Educational Programs

Education and community building are essential aspects of every Green
Heart Community Initiative, so we've developed an integrated
infrastructure that allows groups to learn more about sustainability
while connecting with their neighbors. Once local volunteers are
trained to be Eco Auditors, the Initiatives begin with an Orientation Class for homeowners to help them understand the basic issues and the resources available to them.

After participants receive their Eco Audit they are automatically
enrolled in our tracking and mentorship program. Participants are
linked to the monthly installment of our Education Series and are sent an email containing an Action Update
that provides tips and ideas pertaining to Food, Transportation, Energy
and Wellbeing. At that time people are encouraged to take a few minutes
to enter in their current lifestyle data so they can see their progress
online.

The Green Heart Institute also helps groups organize monthly Community Education Events
that are free to the public and cover topics such as weatherization,
voluntary simplicity, socially responsible investing and more. We also
provide the framework for forming a Sustainability Advisory Council to be the focal point for local project ideas and be the liason between the Institute and other members of the community.
